The Woleta and Endeley families, regret to announce the passing of their beloved sister-in-law, Iya Sabina Namondo Woleta. She passed away on the evening of Tuesday, 26 April 2005, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, USA.
Sabina started complaining of severe back ache about three weeks ago. On Monday, 11 April, she was admitted to the hospital. After a battery of tests, she was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoma, a deadly form of bone-marrow cancer.
By this stage her organs were already failing and she did not respond to chemotherapy. Last Sunday, 24 April, she lapsed into a coma and was placed on a life-support system. Alas, she did not recover!
She is survived by her:
* young daughter, Limunga, of Edea,
* mother, Mama Limunga Woleta (currently in Minnesota),
* older sister, Iya Sally Endeley (nee Woleta), of Minnesota,
* older sister, Iya Sarah Abiyah (nee Woleta), of Bafoussam,
* older sister, Iya Lydia Woleta, of Tiko,
* older brother, Mola Evakise Woleta, of Germany,
* older brother, Mola Isaac Woleta of Edea,
* many brothers- and sisters-in-law,
* many cousins, nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, and
* very, very many friends.
A dynamic, smart and hard-working young lady, Sabina arrived in Minnesota in 2002 to join her mother and sister. Although this "ex-Sakerette" was only in her mid-thirties, she managed during the last three years, and indeed throughout her life, to touch the lives of many people in a very profound way. In fact, the hospital workers have been overwhelmed by the number of visitors who came to see Sabina during the last two weeks.
For those of us have have known and loved Sabina, it is very hard to imagine how such an active, lively and outgoing young woman could so suddenly deteriorate and vanish in the course of only three weeks! She was very loving and very much loved. Her absence leaves a vacuum that will be impossible to fill.
